Referencing - OSCOLA


  • Short quotations (3 lines or less): include within the text, using 'single' quotation marks.

  • Longer quotations (over 3 lines of text) should be indented, with no quotation marks.

  • Always insert a footnote when using a quote. The page number where the quote was found should be included at the end of the footnote.

  • Punctuation follows the closing quotation mark, then insert the footnote after that.
